While there aren’t many complaining about the choices, there are a few other names who could have easily made the list with the season’s they’re having.
So here’s a look at the five players that missed out, but could’ve quite easily been in the running for an award…

Olivier Giroud
Whilst Olivier Giroud spent most of the first half of the season out injured, he has been incredible for Arsenal since coming back.
The Gunners have had superb in the second half to the campaign and the Frenchman has been one of the key players in their rise up to second in the table.
The 28-year old has scored 18 goals in 27 appearances and had he been playing like that for the whole season his name would have surely been on the list.
Charlie Austin
Charlie Austin has been a one man machine for QPR this season and, whether they avoid relegation or not it, is looking likely he could be sold, with the likes of Southampton and Newcastle interested.
Roy Hodgson has hinted he may get an England call-up for their upcoming games against Slovenia and Ireland, too. The 25-year-old has scored 17 goals this season and seems to have been overlooked due to his team’s league position.
Yannick Bolasie
Crystal Palace’s Yannick Bolasie has been key in his club’s fight for Premier League survival. Whilst his goal count isn’t as high as many would like, his speed down the wing and commitment has been impressive.
Under Pardew the Congo international has come on leaps and bounds and his boss thinks the best is yet to come. Kept in the media shadows due to Wilfred Zaha, it is now chance for Bolasie to shine.
Branislav Ivanovic
Chelsea have been superb this season and it looks likely that they will be crowned champions come May.
While two Blues players made the shortlist, there is another who could have easily been included. He has scored some important goals this season as well as being a key part in their League Cup win against Tottenham.
The defender has been overshadowed by his goal scoring teammates but should have been included for his solidness at the back.
Nathaniel Clyne
Nathaniel Clyne has been the surprise of this Premier League season. Part of an impressive Southampton side this term, it looks like a move to one of the top four clubs could be likely in the summer, having been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United.
Clyne has been solid in defence and has been part of the Saints’ 14 clean sheets this season, including against Arsenal and Everton. Big things are predicted and if he carries on he may well make the shortlist next year.
